wild duckling desparately needing rescue/jacksonville florid

Postby zedkitty on Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:48 pm

I know you aren't supposed to take them home but it was us or the seagull that nearly carried him off before plopping him in the water. there was a whole flock of gulls : looking for dinner and the mother was caring for all but this one. this is the sort of duck that looks a bit like a turkey....anyone know of a rehabber in my area? he has feathers and is waterproof and can swim...don't know what to feed..we chopped up baby romaine and ground some popcorn...help?

Oh, I'm sorry, I just saw this. So it's a muscovy. It was kind of you to help the little guy. Please check the rescuer list for Florida. Email me if you have no luck and I'll see if I can find you any other help. Romaine is good. It would also be good to get a bag of waterfowl starter or turkey starter or gamebird starter or unmedicated chicken starter - or any kind of chicken food would work for a while. How is he doing? Again, I'm so sorry that all the darn spam on this board caused your message to get missed. I hope all is okay.
